On 21st March 2023 Cadets from Lancashire's' Nelson and Colne Unit attended the National Crime beats Awards 2023 As finalists at the Royal National Hotel in London. They presented their project “-By Young People 4 Young People” a cadet led initiative created to give talks in schools to their peers on keeping safe in daily lives ,subjects created and delivered included peer pressure, staying safe online, internet safety and staying safe while using social media.

We are delighted to announce that they WON! - Congratulations to the unit and their supporters , and did Lancashire Constabulary and the VPC proud.

They had stiff competition from five other groups from across England and Wales with equally deserving projects .
The day was described as a very humbling day , listening and watching young people deliver their presentations on how they have made a difference to their communities where they live, with their innovative and successful crime prevention projects.
After the awards all the finalists and their supporters were treated to a sightseeing trip of London and a trip on the London eye , which was enjoyed massively by the Cadets and their supporters .
The Cadets were nominated by outgoing High Sheriff of Lancashire ,Mr Martin Ainscough who supported the cadets initiative.
